Games Days at Port Phillip Libraries

Overview

In May at St Kilda Library (part of Port Phillip Libraries), Events Engine partnered to deliver engaging Game Days, hosting multiple sessions where local kids and teens gathered to play interactive digital and tabletop games. The initiative brought gaming into the heart of community spaces, converting a traditional library into a hub of playful connection.


Objectives

  • Introduce gaming as a creative, social experience for young people

  • Activate public library spaces with diverse events

  • Provide inclusive, free, and supervised gaming opportunities

  • Showcase Events Engine’s ability to create community-driven gaming activations in public institutions

 


Activation & Delivery

  • Delivered multiple Game Day sessions showcasing popular titles like Roblox, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., Dungeons & Dragons, and Magic: The Gathering.

  • Provided full events management: setup, equipment, staff supervision, and clear safety protocols

  • Supported cross-generational participation by offering game types suitable for attendees aged around 12–18, plus younger participants for family-friendly titles

 


Impact & Outcomes

  • Helped libraries reach new audiences, activating reading spaces with gaming energy

  • Strengthened social connections, as kids and teens joined in tournaments, co-op sessions, and tabletop play

  • Highlighted versatility in our event execution—handling digital, analog, competitive, and casual formats seamlessly

  • Provided the council with high-quality content for their channels, reinforcing community impact and event participation
